We hear from so many young people asking how they can lose weight and then attach the phrase that they are 13, 14 or 15 or some other age.  Also, there is one over-riding concern that since they are so young or an older teenager, they can’t afford to try a weight loss plan.  All too often many people confuse the ability to lose weight with their ability to be able to puchase some sort of weight loss food, pill, diet or meal plan.  Well….we want to tell you that if you want to lose weight there is absolutely nothing that you need to buy, eat or drink to help you lose weight.  If you came to this website thinking that you needed to get some special powder or tool that would help you drop those unwanted pounds, we are sorry to tell you that there is nothing that money can buy that would allow you to lose weight without some effort.

Weight loss for teenagers is just like weight loss for pretty much anyone else in the world today.  Gaining and losing weight is all about how many calories a person eats and about how many calories a person burns off.   There is no special remedy for being able to shed the extra weight, it is the same and requires no extra knowledge.  If you are between the ages of 11 and 18 we want you to understand that weight loss does not require you to buy anything special.  Save your money and stop looking for a “easy weight loss solution”.

If you want to lose weight here are a few ways that you can lose weight that cost you absolutely no money.  So in a way, we are giving you free weight loss advice, which is what this website is all about.  We do not want another young adult to have to put up with being ridiculed at home or school.  If you want to lose weight, these are some simple things you can do, that are FREE.  Learn these princibles now while you are young so you can stop being fat now and not chase the weight loss goal your entire life.

  • Stop drinking soda: Soda is a horrible selection to drink.  You should never drink your calories.  This is where your need for an education comes into play.  Look at how many calories are in a soda and when you have realized it is just making you fatter, you will no longer want to drink it.  That little tip can save you from gaining 15 pounds in the next 12 m0nths and it was better than free, it saves you money.
  • Eat Fruits Instead Of Candy: Fruits are so good to eat and yet they get a bad rap.  Grapes are great and an apple is as good as any food in the world today.  You really could eat all the fruit you want and not gain any weight.  Fruit is proof that you do not have to go hungry when trying to lose weight.
  • Eat Protein Bars Instead Of Candy Bars:  A protein bar is so much better for a person than a candy bar and yet they cost about the same.  At first you may not like the taste of a protein bar but chances are that you will be able to find one you really like.  An advantage to a protein bar is that they are better for you and they fight off hunger much longer than a junk candy bar.  If you shop at WalMart look over by the pharmacy section.  They are also in many other stores, you will just have to make the effort to discover where they are in your store.
  • Go For A Walk: Yes, go and complete the simple task of walking.  Do you have a dog?  Take your dog for a walk and you will be amazed how healthy and enjoyable it can be for you.  Are your parents overweight?  Maybe you all could go out together.  Instead of taking the bus to school maybe you can walk to school, if it is safe.  The point here is that you need to burn calories to lose weight and walking is one of the best things ANY person can do.  How can you include a walk into your daily schedule? 
  • Avoid Fast Food:  As you grow older you will learn just how bad most fast food is for your body and your obesity.  Just about the only fast food place to eat that is decent is Subway sandwich shop.  If you have a choice go there and order a turkey sandwich on wheat bread and pile on all the items you want.  Skip the mayonnaise and put mustard on it. You can save well over 1,000 calories if you skip the coke and have water.  Also, you will once again save money because water in a cup is free and you will save money on the soda.

There you have it…free, simple,easy ways for you to start losing weight.  No matter what age you are they best way to lose weight is to watch the calories you eat and get out as often as you can to burn some calories.  Weight loss is all about calories in and calories burned.  The trick to losing weight is to be able to muster up the motivation needed to make it long term.  When you start trying to lose weight the first week the weight goes away the fastest and this is where problems begin.  The best way to lose weight is to lose it slowly and that equals about one to two pounds a week.  The problem is the first week you experience great and fast weight loss and then that sets up the expectation that you can keep up that pace.  Then when the next week goes and the weight loss drops off, you think you failed and just start giving up. 

Just remember that healthy weight loss has to start somewhere and that can be right here and right now.  How many pounds do you want to lose?  Whatever that number is divide it by 1.5 and that is how many weeks it should take to achieve your weight loss goal.
